Eastern Ontario Certified Forest Owners

certification01The Eastern Ontario Certified Forest Owners (EOCFO) is a not-for-profit organization that was formed by individuals in eastern Ontario who had been seeking – and in 2003 obtained – FSC group forest certification for their woodlots.

The mission of the EOCFO is to encourage forest management practices that restore, enhance and conserve forest ecosystems by:

  • assisting forest certification efforts
  • supporting sustainable woodlot management activities
  • coordinating workshops and other educational activities
  • disseminating knowledge and best practices; and,
  • exploring market opportunities for products from FSC certified forests

Membership is open to any forest owner (individual, corporation, or group) whose lands are situated in eastern Ontario and suitable for inclusion in the group certificate.  The forested component of the land must cover at least four hectares.
